Claiming Emotional Territories in Post-Industrial Sarkandaugava

The study explores the use of urban places as a game territory, discussing also the physical and psychological aspects of the process through the lens of Plutchik’s Wheel of emotions. Researching emotional well-being both theoretically and practically, this research evolves as a deeper analysis of using interventions in urban space to manifest a wide range of feelings and, sometimes, blend the boundaries between them.
Several case studies of street works and practice-based photographic and performative experiments in the post-industrial Sarkandaugava neighborhood of Riga, Latvia, as well as the results of different creative workshops shall be included, as well, discussing an array of methods for claiming urban territory and transforming it through artwork outside the box by using emotional intelligence.
